The collaboration will “ensure the stability of supply of essential generic medicines nationwide” and be implemented in phases throughout the first half of 2023, according to a Jan. 23 news release from AmerisourceBergen.
Civica’s members will soon have access to the pharmaceutical distributor’s supply chain prowess, which includes more than 50 facilities, AmerisourceBergen said.
“We are thrilled to have AmerisourceBergen as our like-minded distribution and supply chain partner as we continue to grow our hospital network,” Ned McCoy, president and CEO of Civica, said in the release. “Together, we will ensure providers across the United States receive the medications they need, when and where they need them, for essential patient care.”
The hospital-owned drugmaker is also preparing its manufacturing plant in Petersburg, Va., testing three insulin biosimilars and expanding its portfolio.
