In response, health and disability groups within the state are rescheduling the meetings this week for patients, providers and consumers to share concerns about KanCare.
KanCare’s oversight agencies — the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services — dropped the meetings and instead offered an e-mail address for Kansas residents to steer comments toward.
The canceled state-led meetings, while not required by CMS, were put in place to discuss Gov. Sam Brownback’s (R-Kansas) decision to cut Medicaid reimbursements by 4 percent effective July, according to the report.
