The transfer, set to take place Dec. 10, will involve moving patients, equipment, staff and faculty into the new 507,000-square-foot University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in one day.

The two trial runs will be conducted in October and November. Officials will meet later this month to discuss the logistics of the transfer, according to the report.

Construction for the $360 million, 14-floor tower began in 2012 and is expected to be complete in three months. The facility will include 134 inpatient rooms and 49 neonatal rooms on the main campus. The hospital is seeking to fill 83 full-time positions.
