The medical center will reportedly move to a brand new $311 million building across the street from the current facility May 21 at 7 a.m. Officials said the facility will also rebrand to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas.
The seven-story facility will maintain 211 beds. It will also be more conducive to the medical center’s functions as a teaching hospital, officials said.
“Our current facility … wasn’t designed to enhance the teaching environment,” said Christann Vasquez, president of Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. “This facility we’re [moving to] really takes us to that next level [of] being able to include our learners closer to the bedside … as well as [be] very patient-centered around the delivery of care.”
