Salisbury, N.C.-based Novant Health Rowan Medical Center has postponed elective surgeries after a storm left at least 4 inches of rain in the facility Aug. 1, according to a WBTV news report.

The hospital is open, but all elective surgeries have been canceled.

“It flooded into the Wilson L. Smith entrance, the lobby area and continued down the hallways into our pre-op area, our operating rooms, our MRI area, our endoscopy suites, down into the lobby and into the cafeteria,” Novant Health Rowan Medical Center President Dari Caldwell told WBTV. “We had pretty much a mess.”

Hospital officials are hoping to resume normal operations Aug. 6.
