Here are four things to know.

1. The bus was traveling northbound when it ran off the left side of the road, careened into the median, broke through the retaining barriers into the southbound lanes and hit an embankment in the woods. The bus also sideswiped large trees during the wreck.

2. There were 30 people on the bus at the time of the crash. Eleven people — five students and six adults — were transported via ambulance to CMC, two of whom suffered severe injuries. Six additional people were referred for treatment later.

3. The bus was one of two carrying band and chorus students and chaperones home from a trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla.

4. Another charter bus was called to Walterboro to transport the uninjured students and chaperones home.
