Children ages 12 and under, including patients’ family members, will not be allowed to visit patients, said Eric McGrath, MD, pediatric infectious disease specialist at Children’s of Michigan.

The hospital added hand sanitizers and educational posters around the hospital to help prevent contraction of influenza.

Restrictions will remain in place as long as the area continues to see a high number of flu cases, Dr. McGrath said. The hospital is experiencing a higher than average volume of seasonal flu cases this year, according to a WXYZ report.
