Foothill Hospital decided to halt delivery services due to the aging population of Boulder County. Expectant mothers who are patients of Boulder Medical Center will now need to travel to Longmont (Colo.) United Hospital’s birthplace for deliveries.
“Boulder is aging; you don’t see a lot of young families here,” Julia Stephens, marketing director of Boulder Medical Center, told the Daily Camera. “The growth [in young families] is really more east and we have an opportunity and flexibility to serve where we’re needed most.”
No other medical services, including prenatal care, are impacted by the move.
