Hospital for Special Surgery Collaborates with Brazilian HMO

The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City has announced a new agreement with Amil Par, the largest managed healthcare organization in Brazil, to provide high-quality care at a new orthopedic center in Rio de Janeiro.

Hospitalys Ortopedia, which specializes in spine disorders, joint replacement and sports medicine, will be at the center of the expanded collaboration between the two organizations focusing on quality management and outcomes. A quality advisory council will be established to provide oversight, establish priorities and monitor progress. In addition, continuing education programs for clinical staff will be available.

The agreement anticipates increased need for these services during the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, both to be held in Brazil.
