Dr. Casey Batten appointed chief medical officer of 2028 Olympic games

Sports medicine specialist Casey Batten, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

In the role, Dr. Batten will be responsible for all aspects of medical services planning and delivery. He will be a primary link with the International Olympic Committee’s Medical and Scientific Commission as well as working directly with the International Paralympic Committee’s chief medical officer, according to an April 8 news release. 

Dr. Batten specializes in primary care sports medicine with a focus on nonsurgical treatment of athletic-related injury and illness, as well as diagnostic and interventional ultrasound. He is a provider at Cedars-Sinai, the official medical provider for the games.

He also serves as the head team physician for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and is a member of the NFL Physicians Society and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the release said.
