AdventHealth Orlando (Fla.). The AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute at AdventHealth Orlando is Central Florida’s highest ranked hospital for orthopedics and among the top two for orthopedics in the entire state, according to U.S. News & World Report. One of the nation’s most comprehensive centers for the full range of orthopedics services, the institute received excellent marks for patient survival, advanced technologies, patient services and the ability to go directly home from the hospital rather than to a facility. AdventHealth Orlando also appears on U.S. News & World Report‘s “America’s Best Hospitals Honor Roll”, making it Florida’s only hospital to appear on the 20-hospital list and earning rankings in 11 clinical categories. Over 100,000 patients annually choose the orthopedic institute and its specialists for care, and over 25,000 surgical procedures are performed there each year. In 2025, DNV recertified two campuses as orthopedic and spine centers and a third became Florida’s first program with DNV advanced foot and ankle surgery certification. Akron (Ohio) Children’s Hospital. Ranked No. 16 in the nation for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report for 2025–26, Akron Children’s is northeast Ohio’s first choice for pediatric orthopedic care, offering expert diagnosis and treatment for bone, joint, muscle and spine disorders in children, teens and young adults. The program’s nationally recognized spine center, a designated center of excellence, provides advanced technologies and innovative techniques for spinal deformities, including ongoing research on magnetic devices that may reduce the number of surgeries needed for children with early-onset scoliosis. The orthopedic team specializes in conditions such as limb deformities, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, osteogenesis imperfecta, hip dysplasia and sports injuries, performing more than 120 spinal surgeries and 560 trauma fracture surgeries annually. With four specialized care pathways designed to optimize outcomes, Akron Children’s blends cutting-edge surgical skill with family-centered care. As a teaching leader, the hospital’s surgeons host a resident review course to train future orthopedic specialists.

Allina Health (Minneapolis). Allina Health’s orthopedics program provides comprehensive, integrated musculoskeletal care through a multidisciplinary team of more than 130 specialists, advanced practice providers and sports medicine experts across Minnesota. With 145 dedicated orthopedic beds across three hospitals, the system delivers personalized treatment plans covering prevention, diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation, enhanced by partnerships with the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute and the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing. In 2024, Allina Health advanced orthopedic research through 13 active studies and collaborations with the University of Minnesota and St. Cloud, Minn.-based CentraCare, including an award-winning investigation into the impact of robotic technology on patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. The team also became one of the first in the region to perform MISHA knee implant and bridge-enhanced ACL restoration procedures, advancing minimally invasive orthopedic surgery. Atlantic Health System orthopedics, anchored by Morristown Medical Center, provides advanced, patient-focused care for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions of all complexities. The multidisciplinary orthopedic team specializes in more than a dozen subspecialties, offering both surgical and non-surgical treatments tailored to each patient’s needs. Emphasizing minimally invasive techniques and innovative rehabilitation strategies, the program is designed to restore mobility and function while minimizing recovery time. Atlantic Health’s orthopedic specialists collaborate across disciplines to deliver comprehensive care, supported by the latest technologies and evidence-based practices. Atlantic Health’s flagship, Morristown Medical Center, ranked No. 16 in the nation for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report for 2025–26.

Avera Health (Sioux Falls, S.D.). Since 2016, Avera Health has built the region’s largest and most comprehensive orthopedic network, with 56 physicians and 49 advanced practice providers delivering expert care across eight clinics and 40 outreach locations. Headquartered at the $133 million Avera on Louise Health Campus, the program offers a full spectrum of operative and non-operative services ranging from joint replacement and sports medicine to pediatric orthopedics, spine care, hand and foot surgery, and concussion management. The Avera Human Performance Center, a 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, serves athletes and active individuals with advanced training, rehabilitation, nutrition and biomechanics programs, including specialized care for female athletes. Avera is leading the way in orthopedic innovation with technologies such as robotic-assisted joint replacement, 3D-printed custom implants, “wide awake local anesthetic no tourniquet” hand procedures and EOS low-dose imaging for precision diagnostics. Banner Health (Phoenix). Banner Health’s orthopedics service line has more than 100,000 orthopedic and sports medicine encounters each year across six western states. The team employs leading-edge technology such as robotic-assisted surgery and 3D imaging to help provide comprehensive musculoskeletal services, including joint replacement, sports medicine and trauma care, taking a multidisciplinary approach to prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation. The program features orthopedic experts with advanced training in their fields, including 110 fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons and non-operative sports medicine physicians, as well as over 40 residents and fellows in non-operative sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. Baptist Health South Florida (Coral Gables, Fla.). Baptist Health orthopedic care, ranked No. 1 in South Florida, No. 3 in Florida and No. 53 nationally by U.S. News & World Report, delivers world-class musculoskeletal care across 15 locations. Its 44 board-certified and fellowship-trained specialists provide expertise in nine orthopedic subspecialties, including joint replacement, spine, trauma, sports medicine and pediatric orthopedics. Baylor Scott & White Health’s orthopedics program provides comprehensive, patient-centered care designed to restore movement and quality of life for people with bone, joint, muscle and connective tissue conditions. With expert teams across Texas, patients have access to specialists in hip and knee reconstruction, spine care, shoulder and elbow surgery, orthopedic oncology, pediatric orthopedics, trauma and sports medicine. Treating more than 100,000 patients annually, the program brings together pediatric orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, rehabilitation experts and researchers who tailor treatment to each child’s stage of growth and development. The department encompasses leading specialty programs in spine, hip, limb lengthening, upper and lower extremities, neuromuscular disorders and sports injuries, with expertise spanning conservative therapies, regenerative medicine and minimally invasive surgical approaches. Boston Children’s is home to landmark innovations such as the bridge-enhanced ACL restoration procedure, VirtualHip AI-driven surgical planning, robotic-assisted spinal fusion and non-anesthetic scoliosis bracing for infants, all of which have redefined pediatric orthopedic care worldwide. Boston Medical Center. As New England’s busiest level 1 trauma center, Boston Medical Center’s department of orthopedic surgery provides expert care for complex fractures, non-unions and advanced musculoskeletal conditions, performing nearly 4,000 surgeries and 45,000 outpatient visits annually. The department offers comprehensive services in trauma, joint reconstruction, arthroplasty, sports medicine, spine, hand and pediatric orthopedics. The department’s orthopedic research laboratory, founded in 1997, drives innovation in musculoskeletal disease and injury, while the new 3,000-square-foot clinical research unit expands access to early-phase trials for a diverse patient population. The department is also advancing patient engagement through shared decision making tools for hip and knee osteoarthritis, empowering patients to choose treatment aligned with their goals. Boston Medical Center has been recognized by Newsweek as one of “America’s Best Orthopedic Hospitals” for 2025. In addition, multiple surgeons from the program were honored as Boston Magazine “top doctors” and Avant-Garde Health “research all-stars”, underscoring the department’s national leadership in clinical care, education and research.

Carilion Clinic (Roanoke, Va.). Carilion Clinic’s Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences is Western Virginia’s destination for advanced musculoskeletal care, education and research. As the largest academic orthopedic practice in Virginia, the institute’s 50-plus faculty provide subspecialized care across adult reconstruction, sports medicine, trauma, spine, pediatrics and limb preservation, supported by 51 advanced care providers and dedicated research and clinical fellows. Carilion’s adult reconstruction program, first named a center of excellence in 2007, recently earned advanced-level Joint Commission certification, while its sports medicine division serves as team physicians for Virginia Tech Athletics and more than 25 collegiate and high school programs statewide. Through the Musculoskeletal Education and Research Center, Carilion leads more than 70 active studies in collaboration with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. The department recently launched an orthopedic surgery residency program and multiple fellowship tracks in support of workforce development. Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as “high performing” in hip and knee replacement and fracture care, Carilion has achieved readmission rates of 2.7% at 90 days and complication rates under 2% across major joint procedures, rates well below national averages. 

Cedars-Sinai (Los Angeles). Cedars-Sinai orthopedics, ranked No. 1 in California and No. 5 nationally by U.S. News & World Report for 2025-26, is a global leader in comprehensive musculoskeletal care. The program encompasses nine clinical specialties and offers individualized treatment plans that range from conservative therapies to advanced minimally invasive surgery. Cedars-Sinai’s orthopedic research enterprise drives breakthroughs in biomechanics, stem cell therapy and spine tissue engineering, advancing the science of bone and joint repair. Children’s Health (Dallas). The Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and Sports Performance, supported by the EXOS app, is the only pediatric-focused orthopedic and sports medicine center of its kind in North Texas. Since opening in 2015, the institute has become a national destination for young athletes, offering advanced procedures like trochleoplasty for patellar instability and pioneering programs in pediatric scoliosis, cartilage restoration and concussion management. The institute also houses a multidisciplinary sports neuropsychology program and participates in global orthopedic research collaborations such as Research on Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Knee. With more than 39,000 annual clinic visits, 1,300 surgeries and a 92.6 net promoter score, the program achieves elite patient satisfaction while maintaining same-day or next-day access for acute injuries. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Ranking No. 9 in the nation for orthopedics according to U.S. News & World Report for 2025-26, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is the only nationally ranked pediatric orthopedics program in Georgia and one of the largest in the Southeast. With a team of 15 surgeons, three orthopedists and seven primary care physicians, the program performs more pediatric orthopedic surgeries than any other children’s hospital in the U.S. Each year, thousands of families choose Children’s for expert care across the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions, ranging from spine, hip and limb deformities to sports injuries, fractures and neuromuscular disorders. Children’s Hospital Colorado (Aurora). The Orthopedic Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado is a nationally ranked leader in pediatric orthopedic care, performing more than 64,000 outpatient visits and 4,500 surgical procedures annually, serving patients from over 30 states and standing as the only comprehensive pediatric orthopedic program within a 1,000-mile radius. With more than 50 faculty, including 19 pediatric orthopedic surgeons and seven primary care sports medicine physicians, the institute offers advanced care across all pediatric musculoskeletal specialties, including spine, hip preservation, trauma, hand, limb differences and sports medicine. Home to the only level 1 pediatric trauma center in the region and one of just 19 accredited gait and movement analysis labs nationwide, Children’s Colorado leads innovations in robotics, 3D modeling and motion capture to deliver personalized, minimally invasive care. Their musculoskeletal research center publishes over 100 manuscripts annually and participates in 19 active trials, including several funded by the Scoliosis Research Society. The institute receives $6.5 million in active research funding and has seen zero surgical site infections for adolescent scoliosis patients since 2016.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is one of the nation’s premier destinations for pediatric orthopedic care, ranked No. 4 in the country by U.S. News & World Report and No. 1 in pediatric orthopedic discharge volume in Los Angeles County. The center’s nationally recognized scoliosis care and spine program is the largest on the West Coast and fourth largest in the U.S., performing more than 225 spine surgeries each year with less than a 1% infection rate. The system’s hip preservation program is the only comprehensive program of its kind in the region and boasts one of the nation’s shortest hospital stays for lower extremity surgeries. The hospital also pioneered the use of the EOS low-dose radiation imaging system, reducing exposure by up to 98%, and operates the John C. Wilson, Jr. Motion and Sports Analysis Laboratory, one of only 17 accredited gait labs worldwide. The Autry Orthopedic Center boasts nearly 200 active clinical research studies and almost $1 million in annual research funding.

Children’s Hospital of Orange (Calif.) County. CHOC Orthopedic Institute, named among the nation’s top children’s hospitals for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report for 2025–26, delivers world-class, family-centered care for children with bone, joint, muscle, ligament and tendon disorders. With the largest pediatric orthopedic team in Orange County, Children’s Hospital of Orange County treats more spine conditions in children and teens than any other hospital in the region and is home to Orange County’s only Muscular Dystrophy Association–designated pediatric clinic. The institute offers innovative, specialized programs including a spine center, sports medicine program, hip disorder program, limb disorder program, and neuromuscular disease program, supported by expert surgeons, physiatrists, rehabilitation specialists and child life professionals. The system’s orthopedic surgeons were the first on the West Coast to perform limb lengthening using the PRECICE remote control device, advancing minimally invasive care. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. One of the largest and most active pediatric orthopedics programs, the Orthopedic Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is a leading referral center for some of the most rare and complex conditions. The center is home to highly regarded teams focused on sports medicine, hip and spine disorders, limb preservation and reconstruction, lower extremity deformities, and fractures and injuries. It also offers the first program in the nation devoted solely to treating children, teens and young adults with thoracic insufficiency syndrome. To support and encourage peer-to-peer research, team members have created a culture of research sharing that enables collaboration across expertise and promotes further innovation. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 2 in the nation for 2025-26 for pediatric orthopedics and Newsweek also ranked it among the best pediatric orthopedics programs in the nation.

Children’s National Hospital (Washington, D.C.). Ranked among the top 10 pediatric orthopedic programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Children’s National Hospital’s orthopedic surgery and sports medicine program delivers family-centered care to more than 27,000 patients across the Mid-Atlantic region each year. As the only dedicated pediatric orthopedics program in the area, Children’s National provides comprehensive treatment for conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles and growth plates, from fractures and limb deformities to scoliosis and neuromuscular disorders. The program’s multidisciplinary approach integrates orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, physical therapy, psychology and performance training, with specialized programs including a bone health program, hip preservation program, limb lengthening, and sports performance and motion analysis lab. Children’s National is a global leader in growth-plate sparing and minimally invasive surgical techniques, pioneering innovations like the nation’s first spinal fusion surgical home and the use of EOS low-dose imaging for safer diagnostics. Cincinnati Children’s. Faculty physicians lead groundbreaking studies, including recent research exploring the use of bioabsorbable metallic scaffolds to enhance nerve regeneration, offering promising alternatives to traditional nerve grafts. The division’s culture of continuous improvement is exemplified through its 2025 Rapid Cycle Improvement Collaborative, which reduced X-ray order errors from 7% to 3% through standardized protocols and enhanced communication with radiology. 

Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute is an internationally recognized leader in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of bone, joint and connective tissue disorders. The institute unites Cleveland Clinic’s world-class orthopedic and rheumatology programs to deliver integrated, patient-centered care for adults and children. Specialists across disciplines provide expertise in joint replacement, sports medicine, spine health, musculoskeletal oncology and pediatric orthopedics, supported by advanced programs in concussion management, orthobiologics and sport-specific rehabilitation. Rheumatology experts within the institute are renowned for treating arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, using precision medicine approaches informed by active clinical research and trials. The division is nationally recognized for its innovation in ACL reconstruction, offering the bridge-enhanced ACL restoration implant and hydrotherapy-based rehabilitation to help young athletes recover more effectively. Dayton Children’s is home to one of only 14 hospital-based gait labs in the nation accredited by the Commission for Motion Laboratory Accreditation, an achievement earned in 2025 that places it among the top 3% of pediatric hospitals nationwide for motion analysis excellence. Duke University Health System (Durham, N.C.). Duke University Hospital consistently ranks among the nation’s top orthopedic programs and is the highest-ranked in North Carolina and the Southeast for orthopedic care, according to U.S. News & World Report. Duke’s department of surgery includes eight specialized surgical divisions, many of which have pioneered innovative surgical techniques such as total ankle replacement and hip preservation. The orthopedic team expanded access to care by offering same-day and next-day appointments for the full spectrum of orthopedic conditions. The orthopedic trauma team serves as a regional referral center, and the division of sports medicine supports athletes from elite colleges to Olympic levels.
