Residents of Nevada, Mo., overwhelmingly supported a half-cent sales tax increase to keep the doors of Nevada (Mo.) Regional Medical Center open, according to Missourinet.
Eighty-nine percent of voters approved the tax, which will generate $800,000 for the hospital annually, according to the report. The 71-bed hospital is the only hospital with a birthing unit between Kansas City and Joplin, Mo., a stretch of over 150 miles.
The hospital provides acute, intensive and skilled care.
