Massachusetts Community Hospitals Perform More Bariatric Surgeries Than Larger Facilities

Community hospitals in Massachusetts are benefiting from a high volume of bariatric surgeries, according to a CBS Boston report.

In 2010, Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Mass., performed the most weight-loss surgeries in the state at more than 600, according to the report. In addition, Lowell (Mass.) General Hospital performed more than 400 weight-loss surgeries in 2010 — nearly twice as many as Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
