The nurse, Elise Wilson, was seriously injured by the patient, who fled the ED after the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. The nurse was treated immediately in the ED and was flown to Worcester, Mass.-based UMass Memorial Medical Center after being stabilized. The nurse remained in critical condition with stab wounds to her face and shoulder as of Thursday, CBS Boston reports.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office told WCVB authorities arrested Conor O’Regan, 24, for the stabbing. Police said Mr. O’Regan allegedly stabbed Ms. Wilson because he was unhappy with care received at Harrington Hospital three weeks prior, according to CBS Boston.
Mr. O’Regan will be arraigned Thursday in Central District Court in Worcester following a psychiatric evaluation. He will also be charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and assault with intent to kill, the report states.
