2 patients deemed 'dangerous' escape from Washington psychiatric hospital

Anthony Garver, 28, and Mark Alexander Adams, 58, have escape from Lakewood, Wash.-based Western State Hospital, an 800-plus-bed psychiatric hospital, according to CNN.

The patients were last seen in the dining hall of the hospital on the evening of April 6, but no one noticed they were missing until one and a half hours later. Lakewood police believe they may have escaped the facility through a loose window.

Mr. Garver and Mr. Adams had been patients at Western State Hospital since February 2015. Mr. Garver — whose real last name is Burke, though he goes by an alias — was arrested in 2013 on charges of first-degree murder, but was found incompetent to stand trail, according to The Olympian. In 2014, Mr. Adams was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault with a domestic violence enhancement, but was found incompetent to stand trial.

Lakewood police have notified Amtrak, Greyhound and area cab companies that the men, whom they deemed dangerous, have escaped. "It is suspected they left together on foot and may have obtained transportation," police said, according to CNN.

Update: On the afternoon of April 7, police caught Mr. Adams in Des Moines, Wash., which is approximately 15 miles south of Seattle, according to CNN. Mr. Garver remains at large.
