President Asks Judge to Clarify Decision Against Reform Law

The Obama administration is asking the federal judge who struck down the reform law to clarify whether it is still in force while his decision is under appeal, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Officials in Alaska and Wisconsin have said the ruling by Judge Roger Vinson in Florida means they do not have to abide by the law, while the Ohio Attorney General advised that the law was still in force.

Judge Vinson, one of four judges to rule on the law so far, is the only one to strike it down in its entirety. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule on the cases eventually.

In its filing, the Obama administration said Judge Vinson's decision "potentially implicates hundreds of provisions of the act and, if it were interpreted to apply to programs currently in effect, duties currently in force, taxes currently being collected and tax credits that may be owed at this time or in the near future, would create substantial uncertainty."
