Researchers created a simulation model and utilized two nationally representative data sets to determine projections in Medicaid enrollment by 2019. Their research projected a “base-case” enrollment of 13.4 million, with a range from 8.5 million people to 22.4 million people.
The researchers concluded policymakers should prepare to tackle consequent effects of the Medicaid expansion, which includes healthcare access, budgeting and workforce demands.
