Republican Gov. Susana Martinez said she is not a proponent of such requirements, and she has no immediate plans to pursue new related rules or legislation while she is governor, according to the report.
The governor’s remarks come after CMS released policy guidance Jan. 11 for states to test Medicaid work requirements for “able-bodied, working-age adults.” Kentucky subsequently was the first state to gain federal approval to implement such requirements. CMS said earlier this month it had received project proposals with employment and community engagement initiatives from at least nine other states.
