Dr. Harris was charged with healthcare fraud for his role in submitting claims for ultrasounds and microbial identification tests to Medicaid when the tests were services were not actually provided.
According to the report, two other physicians at Dr. Harris’s practice left the practice in 2005 and took the equipment needed to perform ultrasounds and microbial tests with them. Dr. Harris continued to bill Medicaid for the services from March 2005- Nov. 2005, resulting in fraudulent payments totaling more than $76,000.
Dr. Harris faces up to 10 years in prison for his role in the scheme.
