Survey: 73% of Providers’ ICD-10 Preparations Will Continue On

Despite the delay of at least a year, 73 percent of respondents to a Decision Health survey reported their ICD-10 plans will either continue as planned or they will use the same preparations on an adjusted timeline.

About 15 percent of the 1,100 providers surveyed said they would have to revise their preparations, and 6 percent said they would devise an entirely new plan.

“We’ll keep assembling our resources,” said Maureen Horton, chief administrative officer of San Ramon (Calif.) Valley Primary Care Medical Group, one of the organizations that said their plans would remain the same, just on a more extended timeline. “You can’t plan for something 18 months ahead of time… It’s kind of like a wedding — you can choose a dress and a hall, but everything else you really have to do closer in.”
