Report: President Obama would veto proposal to change definition of full-time work under PPACA

Republicans have proposed to change the definition of full-time work under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act from 30 to 40 hours, but the issue is not expected to make it passed President Barack Obama, according to a report from The Hill.

The White House said in the report that President Obama would veto the legislation, which the House is set to vote on this week. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in the report that the proposal "would actually do a lot of harm, not just to the (Patient Protection and) Affordable Care Act but to a substantial number of workers across the country."

But Proponents contend that changing the definition of full-time work "creates an incentive for companies to reduce part-time workers' hours to under that limit, rather than the 40 hours traditionally considered full time," according to the report.

The PPACA requires that companies with 50 or more full-time workers provide those employees with health coverage, the report reads.
