In the suit, Dr. Champion alleges the hospital agreed to pay him $6,577 every two weeks and cover his malpractice and other insurance premiums. However, he alleges the hospital paid him just $5,769 and refused to cover the premiums. Additionally, he claims his contract was terminated without proper notice after he reported alleged violations of federal healthcare law and was not paid the full severance pay owed to him.
The hospital terminated the contract citing Dr. Champion’s failure to live up to agreements and insubordination. Dr. Champion claims he met all obligations of the contract, according to the report.
A judge in the Southern District of Logan County, where the suit was filed, has scheduled a pre-trial hearing for July 5.
