Nurse imposter treated 100+ patients at Louisiana nursing home, police say

A 59-year-old woman is accused of impersonating a licensed practical nurse and treating patients at a Louisiana nursing home, according to USA Today affiliate Shreveport Times

Sandra Jeannett Martin was arrested Sept. 20 and charged with forgery, unlicensed practice of nursing and making false statements regarding employment in a healthcare facility.

Authorities did not disclose the name of the nursing home that employed Ms. Martin but said she was initially hired as a social worker. Ms. Martin allegedly used the identity of an actual LPN, also named Sandra Martin, to convince her employer she was licensed as a nurse.

"Martin worked over 1,000 hours while posing as [an] LPN and fraudulently treated over 100 patients issuing medication, completing numerous medical documents and being responsible for patient care," the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office said in a news release

Ms. Martin faces up to $20,000 in bonds.
