Ms. Brown was also ordered to pay a special assessment of $1,300 and be placed on three years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, according to the news release.
Ms. Brown was found guilty by a jury on Sept. 9, 2009, and she was convicted of one count of conspiracy, 10 counts of healthcare fraud and two counts of false statements to federal law enforcement agents, according to the release. Ms. Brown was an employee of A New Beginning of New Orleans, Inc., a Medicaid provider that made claims for Personal Care Services it claimed to have provided to Medicaid recipients. While there, she created false documentation causing Medicaid to pay for services that were not rendered.
