New Orleans University Hospital Could be Controlled by Independent Board

The Louisiana House Health and Welfare Committee has approved a bill that would give an independent board control of the Interim Louisiana State University Public Hospital in New Orleans, according to a report by the Times-Picayune.

House Bill 830 would allow a seven-member board appointed by state government to control the hospital starting next year.

LSU officials oppose the bill, but it is supported by other universities in the city who would gain access to the facility if passed, according to the report.
