New Hampshire will pay $35 million back to CMS after the agency ruled the state received improper Medicaid funds, according to a Union Leader report.
The state does not acknowledge an error or wrongdoing in its use of funds. The issue is how New Hampshire distributed disproportionate share funds to reimburse hospitals for medical services that were not paid by patients. The errors date from 2004.
The state will make quarterly payments over the next two years beginning in the first quarter of 2012 and ending in the last quarter of 2014.
