Danelle Charf owned and operated two pharmacies in the state, and was accused of submitting false claims to Medicare and Medicaid for brand-name medications while filling prescriptions for less-expensive generics. The losses amounted to $573,300, according to a Nov. 21 press release from the Justice Department.
Ms. Charf received her pharmacy license in 2002, and her license is active. In 2008, she was accused of misfilling a prescription for Trileptal (oxcarbazepine), an anti-seizure medicine with Daypro (oxaprozin), a drug for pain and arthritis.
As part of the guilty plea, Ms. Charf was sentenced to two months of prison and three years of supervised release.
