Hope Thomley, 52, and her husband Randy Thomley bribed healthcare providers to prescribe specialty medications that were deemed generally unnecessary, prosecutors said. The couple targeted people insured by TRICARE, and Advantage Pharmacy allegedly reaped $192 in revenue from TRICARE alone, said prosecutors.
Ms. Thomley pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. She faces up to 15 years in prison.
As part of the plea deal, Ms. Thomley agreed to forfeit $29 million, including $15 million in cash, three vehicles and 15 pieces of real estate. She also must pay $6.6 million to the IRS for income taxes she evaded.
Her husband is scheduled to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud next week. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
