Michigan Blues to Pay $1.6M to Resolve Concealed Fee Allegations

A jury found that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the state’s largest health insurer, must pay the city of Holland nearly $1.6 million because BCBS of Michigan allegedly charged fraudulent and concealed fees to the city over several years, according to a Holland Sentinel report.

Holland discovered the fees in late 2007, alleging there was a 13.5 percent fee within medical bills, according to the report.

BCBS of Michigan has not yet said if it will appeal the decision.
