Medical Billing Account Manager Sentenced to Over 3 Years in Prison

Nikkie LaFleur of Lake Charles, La., was sentenced to 37 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to three counts of healthcare fraud in March, according to an Associated Press report on KLFY News.

Ms. LaFleur was an account manager with Medical Provider Services, where she embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from clients’ accounts, according to the report. In addition to jail time, she will pay $621,000 in restitution.

The federal government is also looking to seize items purchased with the stolen money, including jet skis, motorboats and a travel trailer.
