About 90 physicians in Mecklenburg Medical, which is the largest physicians practice operated by Atrium, sued to break free from Atrium’s non-compete restrictions so they could operate independently.

In response to the lawsuit, Atrium said they would end employment agreements with the physicians Sept. 1.

The July 6 action by the medical group formally ended the litigation.

Over the last several months, Atrium and Mecklenburg Medical have been working to form a stand-alone practice, which will be named Tryon Medical Partners. Physicians will begin serving patients separately from Atrium Sept. 4.
