The Florida Supreme Court will decide a lawsuit State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance brought against UF Health Jacksonville (Fla.) to force the hospital to turn over information about its contracts with health insurers, reports News 4 Jax.

The case centers on Florida’s personal injury protection auto insurance system. Under Florida PIP law, State Farm pays UF Health Jacksonville, formerly Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, to care for automobile accident victims.

State Farm filed suit against the hospital to gain access to its contracts with health insurers and other documents that contain information about how much the hospital charges payers for its services.

In the suit, State Farm said the requested documents would show whether the hospital is charging excessive amounts for PIP-related care.

Previously the First District Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the hospital. State Farm appealed the court’s decision last September.

The Supreme Court will hear arguments May 4.
