According to the evidence presented at trial, Robert Kolbusz, MD, who owns and operates the Center for Dermatology and Skin Cancer Ltd., in Lombard, Ill., falsified patients’ medical records to support medically unnecessary cosmetic treatments he ordered.
Dr. Kolbusz falsely claimed he removed more than 150 pre-cancerous lesions from 350 Medicare patients, more than 450 Blue Cross and Blue Shield patients, and additional patients covered by Aetna and Humana, according to the report.
Dr. Kolbusz’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 13, 2015.
