Idaho Houses Passes $108M Medicaid Cut

The Idaho House of Representatives has passed legislation that would cut a total of $108 million in Medicaid funding for 2012, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.

The move cuts $34 million in state funding to the program, which results in a $108 million total cut due to the loss of federal matching funds.

Supporters of the legislation argue the cuts free up money for education, but opponents argue it will negatively impact healthcare providers and Medicaid recipients.

The legislation now moves to the Senate.
