Rep. Brandon Hixon introduced the bill Tuesday to the Idaho House Health and Welfare Committee.
The legislation calls for the creation of a consumer-friendly website and mobile application, through which people could compare costs for hospitals’ 50 most common inpatient and outpatient procedures, along with the 25 most common surgical procedures. All of Idaho’s hospitals and surgical centers would be required to submit this pricing information to the state on a quarterly basis.
The House Health & Welfare Committee agreed to introduce the measure, clearing the way for a full hearing.
