Former Erlanger Interim CEO Sues Hospital for $25M Over Termination

Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson, the former interim CEO of Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tenn., has filed a $25 million suit against the hospital alleging retaliatory discharge and conspiracy, according to a Times Free Press report.

Ms. Woodard-Thompson, who had served as interim CEO for a year, was terminated in June. She claims she was pushed out amidst a conspiracy between members of the hospital's board and University of Tennessee College of Medicine employees to gain control of the hospital's funds, according to the report.

The suit claims Ms. Woodard-Thompson's computer was hacked at the direction of hospital board members, and that her termination may have been racially motivated — she said a senior hospital official had said "medicine is a white man's world," according to the report.

Ms. Woodard-Thompson also alleges personal safety concerns, as she said several colleagues advised her to learn to use a firearm and have a security escort between her car and the hospital, according to the report.
