Sixty-four percent of respondents — which included 250 CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CIOs, CNOs, CMOs and CMIOs of healthcare organizations — reported being “somewhat familiar” with the law.
The study also found optimism for certain components of PPACA, including clinical quality reporting (55%), interoperable IT systems (50%) and continuum-of-care transitions (68%). However, it also found that less than 40 percent of executives believe the reform law will have a positive effect on patient outcomes, and less than 30 percent believe it will bring organizational improvements.
“The findings of our study support the notion that healthcare executives are concerned with government mandates and healthcare reform implications, but it is still surprising that more are not further along in the planning process for PPACA,” said Kevin Burchill, Director, Beacon Partners.
