The lawsuit claims Baptist Health South Florida denied the reasonable scheduling request from a physician with epilepsy who was a recently hired at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables.
During the physician’s initial interview, she notified her colleagues of her epilepsy and need for a workday that does not exceed eight hours. The modified work schedule was requested as a “reasonable accommodation” under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
However, the suit claims after the physician began working at the hospital, her supervisor allegedly altered her accommodated schedule and demanded she work additional hours.
Baptist Health did not provide comment in the report.
