The settlement with Savitz Drug Store follows an investigation involving four governmental units after the business “could not account for approximately 22,056 milliliters of promethazine with codeine [cough syrup],” according to a Jan. 6 news release from the Justice Department.
A staff pharmacist allegedly used the drugstore’s Controlled Substance Ordering System login and password to order the controlled substance — which can “result in a sedative and woozy or swooning euphoria” — at least 100 times, according to the release.
