According to the Palm Beach Post, which cited Mr. Kandler’s arrest report, Mr. Kandler paid $325,000 to three sober home operators in exchange for enrolling the homes’ residents in Chapters Recovery treatment programs. Sober homes are group homes for people recovering from addiction issues.
Mr. Kandler is the 16th arrest made by the Palm Beach County Sober Home Task Force since its first arrest in October. The state provided $275,000 to create the task force after reports of corruption in Florida’s drug treatment industry, according to the report.
