Colorado Springs Councilman Tim Leigh called for a probe by the Mayor’s office after local physicians reportedly complained to him about the hospital’s business practices and medical policies. When Mr. Leigh asked the system to explain physicians’ concerns, he said he did not receive feedback.
Mr. Leigh has now raised questions about Memorial’s involvement in several real estate deals, the amount of cash on-hand in the hospital’s books and emergency department profits. Mr. Leigh also said that Memorial’s leadership oppresses dissent, according to the report.
The system is currently pursuing a lease agreement with University of Colorado Health.
