House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), said his party needs to consider other avenues than the Medicare voucher system proposed in the GOP budget because President Barack Obama “excoriated us” on that issue.
But he indicated GOP lawmakers would still pursue other ways to reduce spending, such as limiting malpractice lawsuits.
“The conciliatory tone signals the opening of a new and more consequential phase in the battle to design an affordable government for an aging society,” the Post opined.
