AHA Panel Discusses Medicare Extenders With Congress

The American Hospital Association sponsored a policy briefing with congressional staffers on Tuesday to push for legislation that would extend lapsed or soon-to-expire Medicare provisions impacting rural patients and providers, according to an AHA News Now report.

Congress has already enacted several provisions benefiting rural healthcare: the low-volume hospital payment adjustment; Medicare-Dependent Hospital program; the Section 508 reclassification program to addresses challenges rural providers face; and the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012, which extends several provisions to rural hospitals and beneficiaries.
