Accused Boston Children's hacker continues hunger strike in prison

The man accused of hacking Boston Children's Hospital's computer network in 2014 plans to continue his three-week long hunger strike as he awaits trial, according to ABC News.

Martin Gottesfeld claimed he hacked the hospital to draw attention to the hospital staff's unjust treatment of 15-year-old Justina Pelletier. Prosecutors claimed that the DDoS attack against the hospital lasted seven days and resulted in more than $300,000 worth of damage.

Mr. Gottesfeld said the ongoing hunger strike is meant to protest two causes: the treatment of troubled youth in institutions and the self-proclaimed "political persecution" he and others like him have faced at the hands of overzealous prosecutors, according to the article.

Mr. Gottesfeld said he wants the presidential candidates to pledge to protect children sent to residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals and other institutions and to protect individuals from being prosecuted for "harmless" crimes, according to the article. He reportedly said in an interview that he will not eat again until the demands are met.

His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 26.
