The three health systems have filed separate requests in Will County Court, asking the state to review its CON decision. They claim a new hospital is not needed in the area and would in fact harm patient care by duplicating services. Centegra maintains the growing community deserves a new hospital, according to the report.
Centegra received a certificate of need to build a $233 million, 128-bed hospital July 24 after having been denied a CON in December. The decision followed two years of applying for a new hospital. Mercy had also applied for a CON for a new hospital at the same time, but was denied.
