Fletcher Allen Partners to Change Name

Burlington, Vt.-based Fletcher Allen Partners is changing its name to The University of Vermont Health Network, triggering new monikers for the system's four hospitals, as well.

Through its Burlington-based flagship hospital, Fletcher Allen Health Care, Fletcher Allen Partners operates in alliance with The University of Vermont as an academic medical center. Under the pending change, Fletcher Allen Health Care will become University of Vermont Medical Center.

The system's other three hospitals — Central Vermont Medical Center in Barre, Vt., CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Elizabethtown (N.Y.) Community Hospital —  will add "The University of Vermont Health Network" to their names to clearly signal their inclusion in the academic health network.

The change is planned to take effect this fall, according to a release from Fletcher Allen Health Care.

"Identifying ourselves as The University of Vermont Health Network emphasizes our academic core and signals that we are working together to provide seamless, high-quality care to the people of our communities, no matter where patients go for services within our network," John Brumsted, MD, president and CEO of Fletcher Allen Partners and Fletcher Allen Health Care, said in the release.
