AHA honors 3 health systems for innovation, use of data

The American Hospital Association has recognized three health systems for their innovative approaches to improving healthcare quality.

Bryn Mawr, Pa.-based Main Line Health won the Quest for Quality Prize, while Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System and University of Chicago Medicine earned citations of merit at AHA's Leadership Summit on July 17 in Seattle.

Main Line Health, for instance, developed the so-called STEEP dashboard that measures its performance in safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, equity and patient-centered care. Atlantic Health System created a network of primary care physicians to follow long COVID patients. And UChicago Medicine analyzed a decade's worth of racial and ethnic data to design treatment for Black mothers, including via telehealth, and launched a simulation center to train providers to care for diverse patients.

"Based on their innovative models of care, services and collaborations, they are exceptional champions of quality and very deserving of this recognition," AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack said in a news release.
