The expected decline in acquisitions is attributed to independent physicians’ inclination to partner with each other or work for larger management groups. Additionally, once physician groups are formed, they prefer to establish their own practice, according to the report.
“This may explain why the only [medical office building] construction we continue to see is by either hospital systems … or by large, independent physician groups as owner-occupiers,” wrote Anne Spencer, director of Crushman & Wakefield and the report’s author, according to The Orlando Sentinel.
