The organizations finalized the deal with the county for the 37-acre property Monday.
The fair will be hosted on the property for one more year before the land officially changes hands next fall. Officials said the purchase agreement will be finalized by the end of January.
UD President Eric Spina and Dayton, Ohio-based Miami Valley Hospital President and CEO Mark Shaker said the organizations have not decided what they will do with the space. Miami Valley Hospital, owned by Premier Health, and the university, could benefit from the extra land by expanding their facilities.
“Ultimately, I think this area will have some university opportunities and it will have some hospital opportunities,” said Mr. Spina. “Probably the vast majority of it will go [toward] development of one kind or another.”
