Patients Rush to Receive Cheaper Treatment Before Florida Hospital and United Healthcare Part Ways

With the current contract between United Healthcare and Orlando’s Florida Hospital set to expire at midnight Saturday, patients are rushing to see physicians while they can still pay in-network rates, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

Several patients said they scheduled surgeries early so they could pay the lower rates before United Healthcare and Florida Hospital parted ways.

Beginning Sunday, United Healthcare subscribers can still visit Florida Hospital for emergencies, but non-emergency visits will be considered out-of-network, meaning higher fees for patients.
